However, if you are unable to stop by our store or mail it to us for the free jewelry cleaning, we have some recommendation that you can try at home.
Gold and Platinum
The safest and most effective way to clean your jewelry is to use a dish washing soup mix with warm water. Let your jewelry sits in the soupy water bath for about 20-30 minutes then use a soft toothbrush to brush the soupy water onto the jewelry. Followed by pad dry with a soft cloth and air dry. Keep paper towel away from your shinny jewelry as dry rubbing your jewelry with one can result in scratches to your jewelry. Because diamonds have high affinity for oil and grease, lotions and any makeup or greasy product can stick to your diamond easily, we recommend cleaning your diamond jewelry the same way every week or as needed. Some diamonds have different quality to them, while we sell mostly high quality diamonds, lower quality diamonds are also offered at lower price. Diamonds with natural inclusions are not considered as defect in the product but is part of the nature of the item.
All white gold are rhodium plated to have the shinny white surface, thus after a long period of wear and tear, usually the part that comes in contact with your skin or the part that are susceptible to abuse will wear out the rhodium and scratches the gold. This is considered to be normal wear and tear and cannot be considered as a manufacturing defect. When this happens, it can be restore or repair to its original condition via a maintenance service such as re polish and re-rhodium plating the item. Platinum and other non-white gold color item will have normal wear and tear but can be re-polish to look brand new again.
Diamonds
Even diamonds have their kryptonite. They may be the hardest natural substance but can still suffer from chips & small fractures from certain sharp impact. Clean with warm soapy liquid and a soft toothbrush to remove any oil or dirt. Rinse your diamond and setting afterwards to ensure there is no residue.
Pearls
For pearl, the best way to care for it is to wipe it off with a soft, cool wash cloth. Avoid any harsh chemical or hot water as this may damage your pearl. Lay flat to dry. Occasionally, your pearl string may become dirty as dirt or oil and grease may trap inside it after a long period of wearing. You can stop by our store for a pearl re-string service.
Opals
For opal, keep it away from heat as heat will evaporate the water content inside the opal and cause a fracture to happen. Keep away from steam or ultrasonic. Use a soft toothbrush to brush over the opal with cool soapy water is the best care you can give your opal jewelry.
