INDEPENDENT DIAMOND CERTIFICATE

What is a diamond certification? A diamond certification is an independent lab report or certificate that has been issued by an independent laboratory to shows the actual unbiased quality of the diamond. There are many independent laboratory who offer to grade diamonds and to issue the report. However, there is one non-profit laboratory who is very well know and very well respected in the diamond industry, and that is GIA or the Gemological Institute of America. GIA is the first laboratory that came up with the 4Cs which is the diamond quality grading system. It is this system that allows diamonds to be graded in a systematic way. GIA is very well known for its strict grading, consistency and unbiased grading system. We highly recommend our customers to purchase diamonds graded by GIA.

Now, does this makes a diamond graded by other laboratory a bad diamond? No, it doesn't means the diamond is bad but the diamond just got an inaccurate report on its quality. Usually, other laboratory might be one to two grades more lenient than GIA. That's why a laboratory from other lab might sells for less expensive for the same 4Cs compared to a diamond that has been graded by GIA. If in doubt, go for the strict GIA lab grader. If you would like more diamonds options than a GIA graded diamond, and depending on which non-GIA laboratory it is, just make sure that you go at least two to three grades above the GIA for a non-GIA grading reports. This way you can be sure that the quality is as strict as a GIA grading system.

At OR DIAMOND, we offer both GIA graded report as well as a more variety of other laboratory report to offer our customers more diamond options. The only diamond we don't sell are diamonds with no grading report of any kind. Please verify a diamond's quality before purchase and be sure to review the Diamond Grading Report.

If you found a diamond that you are interested in but the certificate is not available for view, please contact us at [email protected] or call us at 408 287 2500
